Hectic Christmas

December 15, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Christmas has always been my favorite time of year but this year has seemed to left a lot to be desired. First off, there has not been a single break from action in the last five weeks. Now, I like to go, but this is absurd!

To make matters worse, we finally got our tree up this past weekend and finished decorating it on Wednesday. Yesterday morning, the thing fell and broke some of my precious ornaments. Can it get any better??

I have some of my family coming in town this coming week and I really can’t wait to see them. They live far away and I don’t get much time with them so this is exciting for me. They have a foreign exchange student who is coming too, so this makes me very nervous. I’m a perfectionist and now my house must be super clean and pretty! AHHHH!!!!

Well, it can only go up from here right? Well, it’s time to wrap presents!

First Party of the Season

December 2, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Well, last night was our first Christmas party (one down two to go). We took the whole family and it was a tad crazy! The smallest of my babies thought it would be fun to be awake the whole time! She got passed around and held by several sweet people who wanted to let me eat – now there’s a thought.

My biggest angel had to use the potty several times leaving me to feel as though I spent half the party in the bathroom. My little boy is in limbo. He can walk but won’t hold your hand and he doesn’t listen at all. This being the case, we had to chase him after dinner. Oh well, it’s good exercise for Mom and Dad.

We ate well and had a good time. The kids exchanged presents and that was fun of course. I even got to talk to some adults which is always a good time!

One Christmas Tradition

November 14, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Huntsville has wonderful Botanical Gardens. Every year for Mother’s Day my gift is to rejoin the gardens. We spent many picnic trips and just times walking there throughout the year. At Christmas they have about a mile and a half tour of lights. The members are allowed to walk through it before the general public is allowed to walk through or drive through. As a side note, if anyone lives in the area, it is worth checking out at their website.

Well, this past weekend was member night for the walk through and I of course wanted to go. I am a huge holiday person and love to do anything holiday related. We packed up our wagon, the kids, and some treats for kids for the walk. We started our walk and were so lucky because the smallest slept almost the whole time! The two big kids loved looking at all the lights. After a few minutes we let the big girl out to walk the rest of the time. Now, normally this is a risky move because if there is a need for she to ride again the bottom falls out of the Earth. However, tonight was completely different. The big girl got in and out of the wagon without any trouble. The big boy sat there so nicely say “ba” to everything he saw. They smiled and laughed and talked the entire time!!

I have always loved Christmas. My family has always made a huge deal out of holidays. I’ve looked forward to having children to pass along my love of holidays. I think I have children who will get as excited as me about holidays! I look forward to creating more and more traditions with my kids! If anyone has any great family traditions they are willing to share – please by all means do so!
